Does botox treatment hurt?
Botox is administered with very tiny needles. You will feel a tiny pinch, but not pain.
Can I have an allergic reaction?
Botox Cosmetic is manufactured without any animal products, so the likelihood of an allergic reaction is extremely low.
Is there any down time after botox?
You will have a small amount of redness at the injection site that can last for up to 30 minutes. Rarely, a small bruise can form that can last up to a week. This is unusual. Most patients can return to work right after the treatment.
How long does it last?
Botox is not a permanent treatment. The affects can last from 3 - 6 months, depending on how many treatments you have had.
Does the botox toxin travel to other areas of the body?
Botox is administered in very small volumes, into superficial muscles. It can diffuse about 1 centimeter from the injection site, but does not travel anywhere else in the body.
Filler
Does it hurt? Injection of filler can be mildly painful, especially into the lips. To help with this, we use a topical anesthetic.
Where can it be used?
Fillers are typically used to provide volume to wrinkles around the nose and mouth. It can help provide a lift to the outer corners of the mouth, and can very effectively add volume to the lips.
Can I have an allergic reaction to the filler?
Juvederm is composed of Hyaluronic Acid that is manufactured in such a way that no animal products are used. This means that it is an extremely pure product and the chance of an allergic reaction in extremely small.
How long does it last?
Juvederm will last from 4 - 6 months. The skin will gradually return to the way it was before the injections.
Is there any down time after a filler?
You may experience some swelling and redness after your treatment. This is usually treated with ice and resolves within a few hours. You may form a small bruise at the injection site. For this reason you may not want to return to work immediately after treatment. It is advised that you refrain from using aspirin or ibuprofen for 3 days prior to your treatment, as this can potentially increase your chances of bruising.
Harmony Laser
*Laser therapy is light therapy. Those of you with a history of cold sores should consider pre-treatment with an antiviral medication such as Valtrex.*
Does it hurt?
Treatment with the harmony laser can produce a sensation that is often described as a soft elastic band snapping sensation, or light pinprick. It should not be painful. We will adjust the settings to maximize affect, and minimize any discomfort.
Is it permanent?
Hair Reduction– permanent
Acne treatment – long lasting, but not permanent
Photofacial – permanent as long as adequate sun protection in maintained.
Why can’t I have a tan before using laser?
The laser targets colored objects, so tanned skin is considered a target.
Are there any potential side affects?
There are potential side effects with laser treatments. If the settings are too high, the skin could be burned. For this reason, a medical history and skin typing is done before your treatment to ensure settings are both effective and safe for your skin type.
What is the after care?
The most important thing after photofacial treatment is sun protection. A good sunscreen with SPF 30 is highly recommended. There is no specific aftercare for laser hair removal. Acne management is individualized and will be discussed at your appointment.

Accent
Does it hurt?
Treatment with Accent produces heat on your skin, as well as a mild pressure sensation. It should not be painful.
What areas can be treated?
The most common areas to be treated are abdomen, thighs and buttocks. The upper arms, bra area and chin can also be treated.
What about exercise?
Accent is most effective if you are able to exercise right after treatment. You should not exercise right before a treatment as that can alter your body temperature. Of course, regular exercise will help to maintain your new shape.
